Louise Frevert is certainly one of the more interesting characters to pass through 1970s porn. She began as a professional dancer, drifted into hardcore pornography, and was eventually elected to the Danish parliament as part of a populist right-wing party. And unlike American stars such as Linda Lovelace or Traci Lords, instead of blaming her foray into porn on drugs and the coercion of others, she simply seems to have dismissed it as part of her wayward youth.

According to the Danish parliamentary website, she is the daughter of senior assistant Knud Frevert Nielsen and office assistant Irene Nielsen. After graduating from La Cours Vej high school in 1969, she trained as a classical ballet dancer and joined the Danish Royal Ballet Company, later moving on to The Pennsylvania Ballet and then The Iranian National Ballet Company. In 1974 she studied at the Modern Ballet School at Lincoln Centre in New York before returning to Denmark and working with the Copenhagen-based Cincinnati modern dancer Doug Crutchfield.

Towards the end of 1974 she seemed to live a double life, continuing to dance while also moving into hardcore pornography. Over the next three years she appeared in a number of 8mm porn loops for Danish labels such as Color Climax, Rodox, Sex und Schönheit, Pfiff and Silver. She also modelled for numerous pornographic photo shoots. Although her only full-length porn film is the Danish-made Molly (1977), she did appear in non-sex roles alongside established porn actresses such as Anne Magle and Gina Janssen in a number of Danish sex-comedies including I tyrens tegn (1974) and I løvens tegn (1976).

By the late 1970s she had quit porn and returned to dancing, appearing in 1981 as a back-up dancer to Debbie Cameron during the Eurovision song contest. The rest of the 1980s seem to have passed quietly as she married and had four children. Then in the mid-1990s she entered politics.

In 1994 she was elected to the Copenhagen City Council as a member of the Conservative Party and spent the next four years on various committees including health, education and culture. 

 

In parliament, 2007

By 1999 she had switched to the right-wing (some would say far-right) Danish People’s Party. She was elected to parliament in 2001 and again in 2005 as part of the DPP platform.

In 2005 she hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when on her website she compared Muslims to a cancer on society that had to “be cut out”. Criminal charges were brought against her for racist speech and she retracted the comments blaming her webmaster.

Two months later she ran as mayor for Copenhagen and her porn past finally caught up with her. A week before the local elections, posters were put up around the city showing the DPP logo and an old photo of Frevert from the 1970s about to give an unseen man a blowjob. In typical Nordic fashion Frevert dismissed the posters, simply saying “I do not see what the big deal is”. It seems her party agreed with her and she remained part of the DPP until 2007, when she fell out with party leader Pia Kjærsgaard. 

She then joined the Centre Democrats but the party was wiped out in the next elections and she failed to win a seat in parliament. The party disbanded in 2008, by which point Frevert had left politics to work as a jeweller.

Although married twice, Frevert is now openly lesbian and in a registered partnership with another woman.
